California has seen tens of thousands of ADA/accessibility lawsuits in just the past few years. Many businesses have closed, terminated employees or sought bankruptcy protection as a direct result.
California is in a financial crisis with the State issuing IOUs, record unemployment, unprecedented foreclosures, "tent cities" housing thousands who have nowhere to turn and many courts facing major cutbacks; despite this, reports of false claims and litigation abuse abound (click for more). Are these lawsuits really helping? Are they the best way to achieve the worthy goal of improving accessibility for people with disabilities?
